Having an organized refrigerator that is stalked with a variety of healthy options facilitates making the healthy choice the easy choice.
Healthy swaps– Trade whole milk and sugary drinks for fat-free or plant-based milks and fresh juice. Replace cold cuts with lean poultry or plant-based protein. Stock the freezer with frozen fruit bars and sorbet with no added sugar instead of ice cream.
Keep good stuff in sight, in mind– Use drawers to store ‘junk’ foods since they will not be within immediate eye sight. Store fresh produce in clear plastic bins that can be placed on top of shelves. This way, the healthy items will be the most accessible.
Frequent rotation– Prevent food from being forgotten and spoiled in the fridge by moving older items to the front of the fridge after each grocery trip.
