ACI Specialty Benefits wellness coaching program has received 150% more wellness coaching calls in the first quarter of 2011 than in the third and fourth quarters of 2010 combined. The recent influx in wellness calls is fueled primarily by word of mouth, as employees are experiencing high levels of success in weight loss and health goals and referring family, co-workers and friends to ACI’s wellness program.
One employee eager to share enthusiasm about ACI’s wellness program is Dana Lee, who dropped over 35 pounds and several dress sizes, as a direct result of ACI’s wellness coaching services. “It has been a great week for me,” proclaimed Dana, an employee at the Diocese of Stockton, “This weekend I was able to buy clothes in the normal sizes for the first time in many, many years without going downstairs to the plus sizes. I had a silly smile on my face the whole time.”
ACI’s wellness coaching services consist of an initial assessment and discussion of client’s personal goals, followed by development and implementation of personalized action plans to meet the client’s health goals. The client and coach then meet weekly thereafter over phone or email to track the client’s progress and adjust to any issues that may arise along the way. ACI’s expert wellness coaches have helped clients of all ages and backgrounds live healthier with personalized fitness plans, stress management techniques, healthy dining options and meal preparation, smoking cessation and more.
Feedback from the program includes:
“My coach has given me the tools to get back on track. I am so fortunate to work with him. He is such a blessing!”
“With the help of my coach, I feel like I have more energy, am sleeping better, am able to handle my stress more and feel better during the work day. I look forward to my weekly coaching calls!”
“So far I’ve lost 20 pounds all together, and last month I lost 14 pounds!”
ACI’s wellness coaching success is tied closely to the relationship ACI’s coaches develop with each client. ACI wellness coach and account manager Dan Trongone worked closely with client Dana Lee in developing meal plans and exercise routines that fit into her daily lifestyle, and checked in on a weekly basis to provide ongoing motivation and support. “The support Dan has provided me along my journey has been an integral part of helping me achieve my wellness goals,” adds Dana Lee, “Without him, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.”
ACI expects continued high utilization of wellness coaching services, and has recently added three new three new wellness specialists to the department to meet growing demand. “I’ve gone from a couple coaching appointments per week to days nearly full of back-to-back appointments,” explains Trongone, “The success stories have spread by word-of-mouth around the offices of many of our clients, and now we’re getting people calling in eager to make a healthy lifestyle change—it’s very exciting for us.”
Nicole Quartuccio, Wellness Director at ACI Specialty Benefits, attributes the growing success of wellness coaching to the dynamic nature of ACI’s AppleCore Wellness Program. “By providing clients with a round-the-clock, interactive wellness support system, employees and employers alike are seeing positive results. ACI has been able to reduce employer health care costs by one-third or more, and make a major impact in employees’ overall health, morale, and productivity.”
